Mango Chai Chiller
Mango chiller is number two of our count down to summer. Simple summer drinks are a treat on hot days. A little something thirst quenching and tasty but not too sweet. Sparkling water is great way to sneak more water into your diet when you enjoy carbonated beverages, without adding all the sugar or caffeine.
Today was a bit rainy and I do love a summer shower. Liquid sunshine was what they called it when I was travelling down south.
We are heating up our summer drinks with some turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. These combined reminded me of chai spice when I tasted my new beverage and it’s a great name. Mango Chai Chiller. This warm spice drink is still cool and refreshing. It doesn’t taste like tea and doesn’t need any sugar, the mango is plenty sweet.
If we paired it with alcohol, this drink would like dark rum, please!
We started with frozen mango, add a bit of vanilla oat milk (but any plant milk will do), some cardamom, ginger, water and a dash of cinnamon; blend thoroughly. Pour that in the bottom of a glass and add sparkling water. We flavoured ours with mango, just to bring a little extra to the glass. You can add ice cubes after.
This recipe made three glasses:
- 10 frozen mango chunks
- ¼” of fresh ginger
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ⅛ tsp cardamom
- dash of cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp coconut milk, this was thick so we added
- 1 Tbsp water
Blend smooth, add 2 oz. to the bottom of a glass and 6 oz. of plain or mango flavoured sparkling water. It helps to tilt the glass to the side like you were pouring beer.
